The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) is France's capital-markets regulator. It supervises asset management, market infrastructure and conduct rules for retail forex and CFD providers operating in France. Prudential supervision falls to the parallel ACPR.

- Mandate
- Established under the Financial Security Act of 1 August 2003, merging the COB, CMF and CDGF. The AMF enforces the Code Monétaire et Financier and AMF General Regulation, with jurisdiction over Conseiller en Investissements Financiers (CIF) advisors and Prestataires de Services d'Investissement (PSI) firms.
- Consumer protection
- Banking deposit protection up to €100,000 per depositor via Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution (FGDR). Investor protection covers up to €70,000 for securities held with failed PSI firms. Negative balance protection is mandatory for retail CFD clients under MiFID II.
- Retail leverage caps
- ESMA-aligned: 1:30 on major FX pairs, 1:20 on minors and gold, 1:10 on commodities and major indices, 1:5 on equities, 1:2 on crypto. The AMF additionally banned online advertising of binary options, retail rolling-spot forex and certain CFDs to French residents under the Loi Sapin II (December 2016).

- Dispute resolution
- The AMF Ombudsman (Médiateur de l'AMF) provides free mediation for individual investor disputes with PSI firms or asset managers. Recommendations are non-binding but firms typically comply; no fixed cap on awards.
- Editor notes
- AMF has been one of the EU's most active regulators against unauthorised offshore broker advertising. The Loi Sapin II online-advertising ban — covering binary options, FX/CFDs and certain crypto products targeting French residents — is enforced via the ARCOM/AMF blacklist.
